Subject:Sanding, smoothing and restoring the patina for baby dolls.

We recommend sanding the baby head, hands, and feet with a medium sanding pad first, then a fine pad, and then lacquer thinner. You may use either acetone or thinner to take off the sanding marks. The lacquer thinner only takes off the surface while the thinner is wet, once it dries it will no long harm the surface. If you wish to wipe the doll down with smoothing oil you may. The smoothing oil will restore the surface to it's natural patina temporarily, but you will have to rub it down occasionally as the oil will discipate. This is very well shown on the new Pat Moulton DVD. IF you don't already have the DVD we will be pleased to help you with it. Thanks, Jack

Subject:Baby oil ?????

Hi, when I sand my baby sculpts I put baby oil on to remove the whiteness. I just want to know if this is O.k to do so or should I use the acteone instead. Is the baby oil Harmful to the clay??? I have read on other forums that the acetone eats into the clay after awhile??? Is this true What do you all use?????????? thank you
