Subject:Re: Marbling Prosculpt

After receiving your letter about marbling I opened several bars and tried them. I did not have a problem or see any marbling effect. I do knead my clay before I use it so if there is any marbling it will be mixed into the clay in the process. All polymer clay is made in large vats, we mix in several different blends of PVC, resin, talcum, and other ingredients. The recipe is mixed long enough to create warmth in the clay and to put all of the ingredients together. There is a slight chance that they didn't mix completely. We do everything within our power to see that this doesn't happen, but it is possible. I've asked our plant if there has been any problem with marbling and they said that they haven't seen any problem, but that they will watch for such an event. IF you continue having this problem I want you to call me personally. I will have you send your clay back to me so I can test it and see if there is a problem. Our chemist said, proper kneading (by hand) should solve the problem. Knead the clay until it is malleable and slightly warm. That technique will also help to alight the polymer molecules and help to prevent cracking. Please report any unusual marbling directly to 800-290-9998. Thanks, Jack

I got some clay for Christmas from a friend. I experienced a slight marbeling also. Fortunatley I made a suit of armour out of it for my latest doll and was able to paint it so it does not matter. I am excited to try the new batch of clay. I did knead the clay for a while, but still saw some marbeling. Kate

Dear Kimbra, Thanks for your letter. I'm not familier with marbling in our clay, but it could happen I guess. Kneading the clay for about five minutes before you use it should solve the problem. Knead the clay in your hands not in a food blender or pasta machine. We have just released a new batch of clay that is a close to perfect as we have ever made. I personally inspected the batch as it was prepared for shipping. If you will call me I will be pleased to help you with your problem. 800-290-9998. Thanks, Jack

Subject:Marbling Prosculpt

Hi I would first like to say Thank you for Prosculpt it took me 1 use to love it and 3 years later I can honestly say I am lost if I let myself run out of it =) I am having a problem that is very new to me and am hopeful I can find a solution from someone who is or has encountered a swirling or marbling effect . I placed an order for 3 bars and the clay was a great soft feel but won't knead well enough my finished pieces have a marle effect I reordered 3 new bars of what I hoped were a new batch and maybe had just ordered from a batch with problems prior unfortunately I created a new piece and when pulled from the oven all over his tiny face were those same swirls again . I am 6 bars of clay in and more than willing to buy more but I am concerned that something in the mixture may be causing this swirl effect and I don't know the cure for the swirls if I were painting over the clay I would be fine but with needing a flesh tone flawless tone I am lost as to what to do next . I considered purchasing via auction site but I would not know what batch or mixture I'd be getting . I hate to make any complaint about a product I am so very happy with but I am eager to get to the root of the swirl cause and to a solution for me being out of a usable supply of my favorite product =( I appreciate any input anyone else here may have Jack I love that you answer your calls and I didn't want to call you again for this unknown swirl thing I don't want to be a pest or haha bite the hand that feeds me my clay I'm just lost on this end Hope someone has a solution =) Thank You in advance Kimbra
