I recently purchased a Head Armature and was wondering about attaching it to the body armature. Is it attached the same as it would be if it were made of aluminum foil? The armature is hollow and seems there isn't much to attach to.

Hi Don, in the seminar I took with Jack, we attached the head after it was covered with clay and baked. We put a clay neck on the head when we sculpted it and then when the body was finished(covered and stuffed), we used hot glue in the opening of the neck and inserted the wire on the body. The glue attached the head to the wire and also to the cloth on the body at the neck area. You can also make a flange on the neck of your head and attach it to a body with plastic ties or cord .
When I use the flange, I always use the glue too, for extra strength on the bigger dolls.

Hi Chris, thanks for your help. I am hoping to make a Santa for my mother for Christmas. It will be my second art doll. My first was made in a class I took from a local artist. So this will be my first on my own. I bought Jack's Santa DVD and in it he used aluminum foil for the head armature. But I bought one of his head armatures and was worried the head might not attach well without the aluminum foil head armature to have enough to attach to. I hadn't thought about making a flange on the neck, so I appreciate that idea. Once again thanks for your help. Don
