Dollmaking Seminars

Check the schedule of seminars to see when Jack will be teaching a class in a city near you. Be sure to indicate which date or which city you wish to attend.

Cancellation Policy: Your registration deposit for any of the seminars is refundable upon your request, if made 30 days before the seminar takes place. After 30 days your deposit will be automatically forwarded to a future seminar of your choice. Jack will be giving an online workshop. He will be on-line at www.artdolls.com each Monday evening for four weeks in a live chat. After the live-chat you may follow up with live tutoring with Mr. Johnston at jack@artdolls.com or toll free at 800-290-9998. The time and dates will be announced over the Internet or by calling the toll free number. If you already have all of the supplies the cost for the workshop is $50. Beginning & Advanced Seminar
The Beginning & Advanced Seminar appeals to a wide audience, covering both beginning as well as many advanced topics. It includes making heads, hands, feet, shoes, and soft sculpted bodies. Students learn to work in polymer clay. Everything is provided during this three day class, to include clay, hair, eyes, armature, body stocking, and easy to follow handouts. Masters Seminar
The Masters Class is offered to serious students who wish to prepare themselves for a career in doll making. This class lasts an entire week. It is taught at the Johnston Artdoll Academy in Salt Lake City, Utah. Master students complete a doll, to include the costume, presentation and accessories. Professional Seminar
The Professional Seminar (workshop) is held at the Johnston Academy of Artdolls in the second week of September each year. This invitation only course is offered to the 12 best students of the previous year. The week long seminar covers everything taught in the Johnston beginning, advanced and Masters courses, plus marking and photography. The graduating students travel to NYC the following February to show their creations at the International Toy Fair with the Professional Doll Makers Art Guild. Teachers Certification Course imageTeachers Certification Course
The Teachers Certification course is offered to artists who have completed the Beginning, Advanced, Professional or Masters course. It is an intense one week training program that covers all of the techniques used in the Johnston seminar. It culminates with the teacher trainee teaching a three day course with actual students. The graduating teacher will also be given the right to sell all of the Johnston products through their own retail business.
